As a practice we have developed a particular interest in dental problems and have undertaken further training from veterinary dental specialists, such as Dr Alex Smithson BVM&S BDS(Hons)CertEndodonticsMRCVS. We are able to perform high quality dental X-rays for diagnosis, which is not available at many veterinary clinics. This helps us deal with complex problems such as tooth root infections in dogs and particularly painful inflammatory problems seen in the mouths of cats, such as feline stomatitis.

We have had particular success in treating feline stomatitis, often caused by a number of factors including feline orthodontic resorptive lesions (FORLs) which require dental x-ray to successfully diagnose and treat these problems. Without successful treatment these cats are in chronic pain and can deteriorate through an inability to eat.

Rabbits and guinea pigs can develop overgrown abnormal teeth and can also require dental treatment which can be carried out at Albany Veterinary Clinic.

Our nurses are available to guide you through home dental care in their dental clinics. This helps you look after your pet’s teeth and prevent future problems.

Please note that not every pet insurance company will cover dental disease. Please check this before taking out your policy.
